Happy Thursday, weekend dreaming

Happy Thursday, one and all! I have had a wonderful, productive, busy week. So much so, that I can't wait for the weekend, for a little unstructured time. In that spirit, this is my whole weekend to-do list, and it's a pretty gentle one. I've been thinking a lot about horror movies lately and I feel like having a marathon. But I'm a scaredy cat and I live alone, so I think I'll just watch the Shining instead since I've seen it about a thousand times. This article made me want to watch some Nora Ephron movies. I've been so tired lately that I've only been able to read a page or two of Clash of Kings before bed so I'm going to try to devote at least an afternoon or evening to reading a few chapters. I'm watching Mad Men from the beginning to prepare myself for season six; I've forgotten so much! Knitting and sleeping are pretty much a given. I've got to do at least some prepping for craft weekend, next weekend Liz and Erica are coming over to get our display ready for the season's craft sales so i need to prepare the house for a flurry of crafting ideas.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Friday FO's- Bag Lady Style

Here are the FO's from this week's knitting:*

They are based on this pattern here. They're super fun and fast to make and I think they'll be perfect for beach bags or grocery bags. Not to mention my i-cord and Kitchener stitch muscles have gotten a serious work-out and I am getting good. A few people have mentioned that I should line them with fabric. Which sounds like a great idea for practicality but then again I'm lazy and hate post-knitting construction and don't want to sew.

I have one more of these bad boys on the needles and then I'm going to try designing a few things I have in mind. Mmmmm...designing. I love it.

In addition to designing (seriously, I luuuuurve it and just want to keep talking about it), this weekend I'll be working on some other projects, doing some experimental cooking (stand back), cuddling my cats, trying to sell some of my old junk at a garage sale, and watching the first season of True Blood. And designing knitting patterns (I was going to call designing knitting patterns my non-human boyfriend but then I realized that's hardly an exclusive label. That category also includes: whiskey, my bed, and the fall. Yes, I am in a committed relationship with a season. YOU DON'T KNOW OUR LOVE.)

What are you doing this weekend?

Oh, and here's this:

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but I recently took a week off of work and found that even though I've lived alone for a while, when you are home alone for a few days straight things can get even weirder. Also, when I tried googling this video, the search returned a disturbing number of websites about loneliness. I think this video proves that living alone is not lonely. It's awesome.

*I feel like it's time to just admit that I am terrible at taking photographs. Terrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. These were taken with my iphone because I can't find my camera charger (again) and my phone was right there. I would like to promise you, my readers, that I will take some photography classes, buy a better camera, keep track of my camera charger, etc. but let's be honest: I probably won't do any of those things. I know, that's not very blog-savvy of my but I have too many interests competing for my time to add photography. Here's an adorable (but horribly taken) picture of a cat to make it up to you:

Happy Thursday

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Even though I work on Fridays causing Thursdays to loose just a bit of their luster, I still love 'em. There's still the feeling of "weekend's coming..." and today I'm extra excited because I get to go to my first ever League of Women Voters meeting! I am so excited about joining the LWV because I am always looking for more ways to get involved in my community, it's an election year, and...well...because The League of Women Voters sounds a little bit like something that would be in a Sherlock Holmes story which appeals to me greatly.

Anyway, this doesn't have anything to do with the LWV or Sherlock Holmes but it does have to do with being a video that always cheers me up and that I can't quite believe I never posted on this blog before.

My weekend plans include a lot of writing, yoga, a mani/pedi with my mom and sisters, a fundraiser/concert (which if you live in the mid-Michigan area you should seriously consider coming out to. The music will be fantastic and the money is for a good cause.), more writing, maybe beginning training for a 5K (yikes!), some knitting, and then dinner at my parents.

No rest for the wicked. What are you up to this weekend?

Happy Thursday

Happy Thursday, everyone! Not happy yet? Happy but want to get happier? Here you go:

I've been watching this pretty much non-stop since I found it on HelloGiggles. It's making my life. That kid's smile alone is enough.

Do you have big plans for your weekend? I have a lot of big plans: cleaning, a bon fire/birthday/housewarming party, cooking, yoga, and sleeping in. Also, knitting. Have a great weekend!

Happy Thursday

Happy Thursday, everyone! This may be the last Happy Thursday post. I am going ice fishing for the first time this weekend and although I've been assured it's safe I am POSITIVE I am going to fall into the hole, or the lake is going to spontaneously melt all at once, or that a shark or whale is going to pop up and bite me (I will be fishing on Lake Huron. I know in my mind that there are no sharks or whales in Lake Huron. But in my heart...). So, should the ice fishing turn out to be less icey or more sharky than I've been promised it will be, I leave you with something to make you laugh every day (albeit in an inappropriate, highly irreverent way. Which I think we can all agree is the best way.)

I give you: Ugly Renaissance Babies. Here are a few of my favorites:

(click on each picture to be taken to the full hilarity which is definitely in the captions)

Have a good weekend, everyone! Stay safe (or frozen if you are a Great Lake. Please, oh please)!

Happy Thursday

Happy Thursday, everyone! Here's the best thing I've seen online all week:

This weekend is busy, busy, busy: I'm teaching two classes, helping my grandpa with a project, starting Christmas projects, going to a party, and hopefully vacuuming (my living room carpet looks like it's made out of cat hair. Ew).

Happy Foggy Thursday

Today it is foggy both in the world and in my brain. But it's October, so that's kind of how things should be. I first heard God Help the Girl in the fall, so to me their music is as October as pumpkins, fog,and apple cider.

Oh man I love that song. It's hard to listen to at work because I really, really like to sing along. Same with this one:

This weekend promises to be full of fall festivities with a movie premiere (that is a story for another blog post), a visiting friend, the corn maze with my sisters and brother-in-law and sister's boyfriend and baby niece ( Evelyn's first corn maze!), yoga, crafting, and a date with the cats to pop popcorn and watch The Shining. You know, when I spell out my weekend plans like that, it's easy to appreciate that I have a pretty fantastic life. Kind of clears the brain fog a little.

I still believe in Happy Thursdays

If this video doesn't make you happy, you need some serious help.*
I want to be in this video so badly! I want to be as cool as that tattooed girl hanging out by the piano but I definitely want to be the girl Frank pulls on stage to play the harmonica. Because I lurve him.

Earlier this week I looked at my calender to see two blank, white squares labeled Friday and Saturday. You know what that means? NO COMMITMENTS!  I'm going to cook and read and watch a lot of Mad Men and knit A TON because Applefest is coming right up. I'm also going to buy myself something pretty with my birthday money because my Grandma told me to, and then I'm going to go show it to her. There's also a really good chance I'm going to drink too much coffee, eat a donut, get Mexican food for at least two meals and probably drink some wine (maybe even in a hot tub). Weekend, here I come!

Happy Thursday!

*Ok, try this:

Don Draper, kids. He will cheer you up anytime! (Also, you may have gotten pregnant just looking at these photos. Yes, even if you are a man. And you may be reduced to mumbling, "Don Draper...Handsome...Don...HANDSOME...Don Draper..." for the next hour or so.)

Happy Thursday!

May your weekend be this exciting.

(When I first saw this movie, I watched this scene at least three times in a row because I frequently sing to the cats and in the shower and around the house to songs I don't even like and it's good to know I'm not alone.)

It would be nice to have a weekend of nothing to do but dance around the house, but at least I have fun things planned like a concert and a trip to see a friend and a knitting class and visiting my grandma. But maybe soon I can have a whole weekend of nothing. Not in August or September, I can already know that for sure, but maybe sometime in October I'll plan a nothing weekend. But whether you're doing something or nothing, enjoy your weekend!
