Hello everybody! It was a big weekend, mostly full of food. So that's a pretty good thing, huh?
First my sisters and I got mani/pedis with our mom as a belated mother's day present. When I asked for a glass of water the kind receptionist brought me this goblet of water. I'm going to start drinking water out of wine glasses all the time; it's much more fancy.
After mani/pedis it was time to prepare for my youngest sister's bachelorette party! I made some cupcakes that called for beating six eggs whites until they formed stiff peaks. It never fails to amaze me how much egg whites expand! Look at that! It's kind of gross but so impressive! It's as magical to me as instant mashed potatoes. And if you are thinking that a woman who is amazed by egg whites and instant mashed potatoes must be constantly in awe of the world around her...you are correct.
I ended up not making guacamole for the bahelorette party, so I had a left over avocado! I baked an egg in it and topped it with goat cheese and salsa. And I was so happy I died and then came back to life. But that's just a normal reaction to goat cheese.
This didn't happen over the weekend, but if I deprive even one person of this picture, I could never forgive myself. This is me knitting with my niece Evelyn who at that moment was embodying Cinderella and "knitting" (stabbing a blanket repeatedly with knitting needles). It was the cutest thing ever.

Phoning in the weekend 1/13/2014 edition
The weekend started out on an interesting note when one Ms. Erica, partner in craft and coworker decided I didn't have enough Nick Cage in my life and stuck this to my office door. He lives inside my coat closet now so I can have a heart attack each morning when I come to work.
Then came Friday night and a soothing symphony orchestra concert and soothing dirty martinis to help calm my Cage-frayed nerves.
On Saturday I did the most perfect long-tail cast-on I've ever done! I got all my stitches cast on with just enough yarn left over to weave in the ends! Woo hoo!
It helped that I was closely monitored by this handsome guy.
Sunday was my niece's third birthday party. I had to look my best.
What do you buy for the coolest three year old around? Binoculars, a toy story etch-a-sketch, and glitter bracelets. Obviously.
To top off a great weekend, it was so warm out and so much of the ice and snow melted that I got to run outside TWICE! Woo hoo!
I hope you had a lovely weekend too! What did you do?

Phoning in the weekend
I call this the two headed catnap monster and it was judging me for doing anything with my weekend besides sleeping.
I realized late in the day on Saturday that I had been walking around with a small double pointed knitting needle sticking out of my hood. That's what you get for leaving the house in a hurry after a marathon of knitting without checking the mirror. (I can't be the only person who stores the extra knitting needle in her hair, can I?)
On Sunday I took Sgt. Pepper for a run. He peed on everything, chased a rabbit, splashed through puddles and was in doggie heaven.
After my run I was stretching and Evelyn stretched with me. Then there was an interlude of trying to climb on me and sit on my head.
This is Evelyn asking me, "What are you doing, Auntie Sam?" approximately 12,546 times in a row. No answer would appease, but she did think "climbing trees" and "answering Evie's questions" were pretty funny.
Alden? He's over it. I think he might be too serious for this family he was born into. I did get him to laugh by making a sound that can only be described as "whale-monkey."
Not pictured: not getting to go to Lansing and visit Liz because my car is dying a slow and painful death, good times with old friends, my furnace breaking on a weekend when the temperature dipped below 30 again, and the rain/hail/wind weirdo weather.

Phoning in the weekend
This weekend, I discovered Instagram and yeehaw! Such fun was had!

I also received a very early birthday gift (my birthday is in
September. The bonus of having an aunt with taste as totally awesome as
my own is that sometimes she finds vintage yellow cannisters she knows
you will love and can't wait to give them to you! Aren't they awesome?
Also awesome, Summer Shandy and veggie snacks on a friend's back deck.
The next morning, I made iced coffee because it was hot! (Yellow cannisters photo bombing.)
As this picture of Henry clearly demonstrates, we dedicated ourselves to being lazy and crafting on Saturday.
This is what I was working on. More details to come.
That night I caught up on a week's worth of the Daily Show, Hulu style.
I tried out a new recipe which was only so-so. (But the iced coffee came back. Also, I'm noticing how many yellow dishes I own and I love it.)
Early run before it got too hot. This picture is grossly distorting the length of my legs. Look how far away my feet look!
Met up with Liz and Erica for a craft meeting. There is some great stuff underway! We are getting so organized and prepared!
At Sunday night dinner with my family Evelyn was rocking on the same rocking chair my sisters and I used when we were little kids. I took roughly 17 thousand pictures of her but they were all blurry except for this one because that girl was rocking, if you'll notice the focus in her eyes. She was not sitting like a lady, so much, but when you're in diapers I don't think that's really a requirement.
Not pictured: locking my keys in my car at a gas station and my dad being kind enough to rescue me. That's about it. It was a really wonderful lazy weekend, which I needed. What did you do this weekend?

Phoning in the weekend
The pictures on my phone from this weekend include:
Popcorn and knitting to ring in the weekend, my darling niece Evelyn meeting my friends' baby Maddie, the AMAZING antique knitting bag that belonged to my cousin's grandma that I put dibs on the night before our garage sale, evenings cools enough for green tea before bed, a happy Buddha kitty (he was smiling until he heard me go for the camera), what my lap looked like between meetings on Sunday, my darling niece petting my parents' dog Sgt. Pepper (and chanting, "doggy, doggy, doggy, doggy, nice!"), and designing a headband with the help of a stitch dictionary, knit picks yarn, and graph paper.
Not pictured: attempting to put up a tent in the rain with Jess and Laura (and failing due to lack of instructions), a good hard run with Laura, our semi-successful garage sale, my closet where I let my OCD run wild and is now organized in categories (I stopped myself after 2 subcategories because really), and my niece saying, "Auntie" for the first time.
